THE FEDERATION FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

The Federation for Children with Special Needs provides information, support and assistance to parents of children with disabilities, their professional partners, and their communities. They are the designated Parent Information Resource Center (PIRC) for Massachusetts. The U.S. Department of Education, Office of Innovation and Improvement, funds at least one PIRC in each state under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act . The PIRC program is official recognition of the vital contributions parents make to children’s academic success.

PARENT GUIDE TO THE MASSACHUSETTS SPECIAL EDUCATION SYSTEM

Written by the Federation for Children with Special Needs in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Education, the Guide is meant to serve as a resource for parents and the organizations that serve them. The Guide contains the most current and accurate information available regarding the special education system in Massachusetts. Spanish and Portuguese versions are also available.
